every thing is not all right in balaghat

The red line you see on the map is a 66 km stretch from Balaghat town to tehsil town of Baihar.Along this road there are many small villages, some on the road side and many more in the interior. The reason i am focusing on this area is that there are no qualified medical practitioners, either government or private in this entire region.Exception being Bharveli ,about 5 km from Balaghat town where Mangnese ore India Ltd. has two doctors in their primary care center. Their Ukwa mine doesn't even  have a resident doctor.
It is difficult to imagine the plight of people residing in this belt for their health care needs.

The government of Madhya Pradesh and the Deptt. of Health and Family Welfare is hell bent on collecting data.We in private sector provide them either on a daily or monthly basis what ever is demanded from us.Malaria is almost pandemic in our district. The Falciparum variety being the common one. So is Dengue, which  unfortunately either goes undiagnosed or is overly diagnosed as a panic reaction. The govt. claims that it has adequate resources to treat Dengue or the more fashionable SWINE FLUE.If it has the resources it manages to hide them well.

If you down load the file you will see data for positive malaria cases for various districts of Madhya Pradesh. For Balaghat the figures from Jan to Aug 09 are, total positive 890 and Falciparum positive 465.No stats for deaths due to malaria. That makes it 100 cases per month approximately. I do not possess accurate data but i can claim that personally i see that many positive cases in a month. And Deaths are a plenty because of malaria. When media was making lots of noise over Swine Flue and spewing out numbers ,we here were seeing the rising death toll due to malaria.

The lesson here is.....
If you want to suppress or hide some thing, you must first acquire that thing.
